The Dawn of a New Era
Welcome to the Region! We're thrilled to introduce the Region Collegiate Baseball League, a brand-new
summer league showcasing some of the area's finest local collegiate baseball talent. Featuring four
competitive teams—the Lake County Corn Dogs, East Chicago Thunder, Little Calumet Beavers and Valparaiso Legion Post 94 College Prep—this league promises exhilarating games and affordable family-friendly fun.
Get ready for exciting matchups, including competitions against the Crestwood Collegiate League
and the Chicago Suburban College League, along with potential exhibition games against the
Chicago Police Knights Baseball Club!
Goal Statement
Our goal is to create a premier platform that highlights local collegiate athletes, providing them with the tools, exposure, and opportunities needed to elevate their skills and pursue their dreams in baseball and beyond.

OUR COMMISSIONER
Dave Sutkowski, a Hammond resident and graduate of Hammond Gavit High School (Class of 1978) and Purdue University Calumet (Class of 1985), Dave earned a Bachelor of Science in Education with a focus on Physical Education. With 33 years of service as a K-5 Physical Education teacher for the School City of Hammond, he also contributed as an assistant coach in football and baseball at Gavit and Hammond High Schools. In 1991, he founded the Hammond Chiefs Baseball Program, serving as president and coach until 2015. He continued coaching with the Morris Baseball Chiefs (2016-2020) and the 5 Star Great Lakes Chiefs (2021-2024). A licensed IHSAA official in baseball, basketball, and softball since 1980,
he retired in August 2020 after a distinguished career in education and coaching.
